Overview
OpenClaw is designed with privacy as a core principle. The app connects your iPhone to your own Mac or Linux computer on your local network. Your data stays on your devices.
Data Collection
OpenClaw does not collect or store your personal data on external servers. All communication happens directly between your iPhone and your computer over your local network.
- No cloud storage of conversations
- No account required
We use Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase) to collect anonymous usage data such as app opens, feature usage, and crash reports. This helps us understand how the app is used and improve the experience. No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics.
Device Permissions
OpenClaw may request the following permissions:
- Camera: To capture photos or video clips when requested via the gateway
- Microphone: For voice wake word detection
- Location: To share location context when you enable this feature
- Local Network: To discover and connect to your gateway
All permissions are optional and you control when they are used.
Third-Party Services
Firebase Analytics: We use Google's Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage statistics. For details on how Google handles this data, please review the Firebase Privacy Policy.
AI Providers: When you use AI features, your prompts are sent to the AI provider you configure (OpenAI, Google, etc.). These requests go through your gateway computer, not through OpenClaw servers. Review your AI provider's privacy policy for their data handling practices.
